Dear Fellow Workers,
As summer approaches most of us are on long layoffs, for some this is a great time to kick back and enjoy your free time. For others this time off causes financial hardship and you need to look for other sources of income. And for those dedicated State Preschool workers who are employed year round, I hope you take care of yourselves and take some much needed time off.
In my last newsletter I related what unions have done for all workers of our country. I am very happy to report that our Union Local 6397 AFT/CFT after filing an unfair labor charge against NCS on the frozen step raises have negotiated a settlement and those step raises are no longer frozen. A BIG THANK YOU to Terry Elverum for representing our side at the table against three NCS management staff and their two attorneys. So this is one more item to add to the list of good things that have come out of the formation of OUR UNION. Contract negotiations are ongoing and we are seeing some progress. We will continue throughout the summer months and hopefully be near an end soon.
So have a safe and restful summer and I will see you in August.
